The Exciting Underground and the Beauty of the Views

Petrified Falls - A Paradise for Speleologists

The signpost to thrills leads in two directions through forest expanses on well-marked footpaths: one path towards mountain peaks and strange karst formations, and the other into underground mountain spaces that nature has formed over thousands of years.

Orlovača Cave

Orlovača Cave is one of the most beautiful natural creations, sculpted by nature's hand over millions of years. Its unique formations are beyond description. Inside, stalagmites, stalactites, and helictites blend with fragments of coral, aragonite formations, and unique cave columns reminiscent of ancient and Renaissance castles and monuments in various colors. The cave is adorned with delicate draperies in a variety of shapes and forms, along with petrified waterfalls that add a stunning visual aspect. Orlovača is an extraordinary speleological site where a cave bear lived more than 16,000 years ago. It is also a habitat for the most endangered group of mammals in Europe—the bats. The cave has a well-lit tourist trail open for visitors.

Novak's Cave

Novak's Cave is located on the steep cliffs of Romania and is named after the old folk hero Starina Novak. Starina Novak was a historical figure from the second half of the 16th century, originally from Smederevo. He became a hajduk (rebel outlaw) due to the cruelty of "damned Jerina" and roamed all over Serbia and Herzegovina. However, he spent the most time in Romania, leaving a lasting impression on the people there. The cave is situated at an altitude of 1,515 meters above sea level, secured by a cable. Well-marked paths lead to the cave from several directions: from Orlovača, from the Majdanikao hunting lodge, and from the Stajna mountain lodge.

The Cave at the Source of the Mokranjska Miljacka

The cave at the source of the Mokranjska Miljacka, from which the Mokranjska Miljacka river flows, is located in the village of Kada. Although it is still insufficiently explored, it is particularly interesting to visitors, especially those looking for attractive photos. It offers fantastic opportunities for an adventurous experience. The cave is filled with water, with a constant temperature of 6 degrees Celsius, which requires special equipment for exploration.

Prerast

Prerast is a natural stone bridge located in the canyon of the Paljanska Miljacka. It represents a rock arch, formed by the influence of wind and water, making it extremely attractive. It is located on the old railway line between Sarajevo and Pale, where the construction of a bicycle path is planned. The stone bridge has significant tourist importance and is considered one of the most important natural resources in the area.

The Glacier Rabbit Cave

The Glacier Rabbit Cave is located on the southern slopes of the Romanija mountain, at an elevation of 1,525 meters above sea level. It belongs to the type of caves known for icicles and snow formations. Ice in this cave often remains throughout the summer, so in the hottest months, you can experience a winter-like atmosphere inside.

Tito's Cave

Tito's Cave, located in Bogovići at the foot of Romanija, is a historical site where the wounded Josip Broz Tito stayed with doctor Ivan Ribar during World War II (June 1943), as documented by photographs from that period. Today, at the entrance to the cave, a part of the plaque still remains, commemorating the events of the war and the heroic struggle against fascism.
