Part of the Olympic mountain Trebević, a favorite picnic spot for the citizens of Sarajevo, belongs to the municipality of East Stari Grad. The highest peak of Trebević is 1,629 meters, which is also the highest point of the municipality. The mountain is known for its bobsled and sledding track, which hosted competitions during the 1984 Winter Olympics.
Trebević's forests are often called the "lungs of the city" because of their natural beauty and fresh air, making it an ideal place for rest and recreation. It has always been a popular resort for the people of Sarajevo.
One of the notable attractions on Trebević is the tourist complex Brus, located 16 km from Pale and only 8 km from Sarajevo. The centerpiece of this complex is the restaurant "Brus," set in a natural environment and designed in an ethno style. Nearby, bungalows and barbecue areas have been built, which can be rented by visitors. The complex also offers quad bike rentals, bicycles, table tennis tables, and parks for children.
To enhance the visitor experience, there is also a hiking trail leading to the exit station of the Trebević gondola, an outdoor gym, a children's playroom, and an artificial rock for climbing.
As part of the "Enjoy Sarajevo - Romanija Region" project, financed by the EU and the Federal Republic of Germany, a hot air balloon was purchased for tethered flights at the Brus locality. This allows panoramic sightseeing for up to four passengers and provides a unique tourist attraction with incredible views of Sarajevo.
Additionally, the project, managed by the company Stanišić doo (a partner of the Jahorina Tourist Organization), also includes the provision of an artificial rock, climbing equipment, an outdoor playroom, and an outdoor gym on Brus.
A pedestrian and bicycle path on Brus leads to the Trebević gondola exit station, allowing visitors to descend directly to the center of Sarajevo.
Nearby, there is also Sunnyland, an alpine coaster or "bob on rails," which offers another beautiful panoramic view, adding to the array of activities available for visitors.
